What’s in a Name?

Art Therapy, Art Smart was named after the concept of Emotional Intelligence/Quotient (EI or EQ) which begins in childhood. Nurturing a child’s EQ gives them skills to navigate life’s challenges and gives them success in academics, personal relationships and life. Adults can continue to enhance and build on their EI too!

We believe that in supporting the parent, we support the child so we work with caregivers in creating an environment that helps children grow the best versions of themselves. It takes a village to grow a child. Everyone must work together to provide meaningful opportunities to advance their EI development to reach their full potential. Caregivers already intuitively model the skills needed to build emotional intelligence. Therapist’s can assist in extending these skills and providing more tools for the family’s toolbox. This toolbox contains skills and strategies the child can use when challenges arise as well as celebrating the successes along your way.
